Woollen Textile Industries

Our office is on the 2nd floor of Block A, at 9-A Lalbazar Street. We have used GPO Box 252 for our mail for a very long time. This part of the city is full of history and old buildings, and ours is no different. You have to walk up the stairs since the lift isn't always reliable. The rooms have high ceilings and large windows that let in a lot of light, but also a lot of the street noise from below. We deal with woollens and textiles, so there are always swatches and rolls of fabric sitting on the tables. It is a bit of a dusty business, but the smell of the wool is something we’ve all grown to like. We sit at heavy wooden desks that have been here longer than most of the staff. It is a quiet place for the most part, except for the sound of the ceiling fans. We still use some old ledgers alongside the computers. It is just the way we like to do things. Most of us have been working here for decades, and we know our regulars by their first names. We aren't interested in making the place look like a modern corporate office. It is a functional space where we handle the textile trade. We take our tea breaks together and watch the busy street from the balcony. It is a steady, predictable life here on Lalbazar Street.
