Jalan Enterprises

We are located at 40 Strand Road, up on the second floor in Room Number 15. It’s one of those old buildings in West Bengal where the walls have seen a lot of history. Being on Strand Road means it’s always incredibly noisy outside with the traffic, the horns, and the river nearby. We call ourselves Jalan Enterprises. It’s mostly just an office where we handle the trading and the supply details for our clients. We have a lot of old ledgers and files piled up on the shelves, some of them going back years. It’s not a modern setup at all, but it works for us. Usually, it’s just one or two of us sitting here, answering the phone or writing out invoices by hand. People come by during the day to discuss business or just to settle their accounts. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep, but you get used to them after you’ve climbed them for a few years. We don’t do any advertising; our name is just painted on a small wooden board outside the door. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the street out front a bit difficult to manage, but we still open up every single day. We handle things as they come and try not to get too stressed. There’s no big corporate strategy here, just making sure the orders are placed and the clients get their stuff on time.
