Vijay Trading

Vijay Trading is tucked away on Watgunge Road in Khidirpur. If you have ever walked down this street, you know it is a narrow one and gets very congested with all the trucks moving toward the docks. Our office is at 2/1, and it is a bit of a climb up the stairs. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend more time worrying about the shipments than the decor. Being so close to the port means there is a lot of dust and noise, but that is just part of being in this part of Kolkata. We have been operating from here for years. It is a family-run thing, mostly. We do not have a big staff, just a few reliable guys who have been with us since the start. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the phone to ring or for a delivery to arrive. The paperwork usually piles up on the big wooden desk in the corner. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that we have just learned to ignore. We do not really do any marketing or try to act like a big corporation. People find us because they know where we are and what we do. It is straightforward work. We wake up, open the shutters, and see what the day brings. It can be stressful when the traffic stalls everything, but we manage to get through the daily list of tasks one way or another.
