Our shop is at 232, Chittaranjan Avenue. If you know the city, you know that CR Avenue is one of the busiest streets you can find. It is always loud with horns and people walking by. We have been trading here for quite a while now. The building is one of those older ones with high ceilings and thick walls, which helps a bit with the heat. We trade in all sorts of goods and our day is mostly spent talking to people who come into the shop or calling up our contacts to see what is available. It is a lot of back and forth on prices and delivery times. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just do business the old-fashioned way with a ledger and a telephone. Sometimes the sidewalk gets blocked with the stuff we are moving in or out, and we have to be quick about it so the traffic police don't get annoyed. It’s a constant hustle and bustle. We usually have a cup of tea from the stall around the corner while we look over our accounts for the day. It’s a simple life but it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We know the neighbors and the other shopkeepers, and that makes it feel like a real community despite all the noise and the chaos of the main road. We just keep things moving.
