Vastra Boutique

Vastra Boutique is on Hospital Road East, right at 24/2. We’re near the Avishikta area and just across from Alibaba, so it’s a spot people know. The road out front is usually busy with people going to the clinics or heading toward the main crossing. The shop itself is a bit of a relief from the humidity outside. We have racks of clothes lining the walls, mostly things we’ve picked out because we thought the fabric felt right. We aren't big on fancy marketing or anything; we just put the clothes out and let people look. Sometimes the doorbell rings every few minutes, and other times it’s quiet for three hours and we just sit there and drink tea. We’ve had some of the same customers since we first opened the doors. They come in looking for something specific, and we usually have to dig through the back piles to find it because our filing system is just remembering where we put it last. There’s a mirror in the back that’s a bit tilted, but it does the job. We spend a lot of our time chatting with the neighbors or trying to keep the dust off the shelves. The sign outside is a little faded from the sun, but people still find their way in. It’s a practical place for people who just want to find something decent to wear without a lot of fuss or unnecessary talk.
