Travelboutique

Our little office is tucked away at 12 Champatala 1st Byelane. It’s a narrow street, and sometimes the rickshaws get stuck right outside our door. Mr. Biswanath Ghosh’s name is on the paperwork because it’s his place. We’ve been running Travelboutique from here for a long time. It isn't a fancy travel agency with bright posters and shiny floors. It’s just a room with a few desks and a lot of maps. We spend our mornings drinking tea and looking at train schedules. Sometimes the printer jams and we have to spend an hour fixing it. We don’t have any big goals other than helping people get their tickets and hotel bookings sorted. Most of our neighbors just pop their heads in to say hello. It can get quite hot in the summer because the fan is old and slow. We have piles of old brochures that nobody looks at anymore. We keep them because they’ve been there forever. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, honestly. We don’t really care about looking professional in a corporate way. We just want to make sure the work is done. It’s a quiet life here in Kolkata. We know the milkman and the newspaper guy. If you’re looking for us, look for the small blue door. We’re usually there from ten until six, unless we’re out on an errand.
