Sel

This is basically Ruchira Basak’s place over on Naskar Para Road in Kolkata. We go by the name Sel, which is short and easy for everyone to remember when they come by. The full address is 1/4/1, and we are right in the Paschim Putiary area. If you know the 700 041 pin code area, then you know it is a typical Kolkata neighborhood. It has that feel of old roads and small shops everywhere you look. We do not have a big flashing sign or a huge warehouse. It is just a small setup where we handle things quietly. Most of the day is spent dealing with whatever work has come in that week. We do not spend any money on fancy advertisements or big glossy brochures. Usually, people find us because they live nearby or someone told them about Ruchira. It can get quite humid here, especially in the afternoons, but that is just how it is in this part of town. The post office is nearby which is very handy for sending things out. We take our work seriously but we do not act like some big corporation. It is just a local business trying to make its way. There is always someone drinking tea on the corner and the sounds of the neighborhood come right through the windows. It feels like home because it mostly is. We just focus on the daily tasks.
