Pakhi Boutique

Pakhi Boutique sits right at No. 146 Sarat Bose Road. If you know the area, we are basically right at the Monohar Pukur Crossing. It is a loud spot with all the traffic and the horns honking all day long, but we have gotten used to it. The shop is not huge. We have racks of clothes and a lot of fabric pieces scattered on the cutting table. Most of the time, the iron is running, and there is a smell of pressed cotton in the air. We have been here for a while now. Some people just walk in because they were waiting for the light to change at the crossing and saw our sign. We don't do much advertising. People mostly hear about us from their neighbors or friends who live around Sarat Bose Road. It is just a few of us here. We handle the stitching, the alterations, and talking to whoever comes through the door. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings over a few cups, and we take a break on the stools. It is a local business, plain and simple. We deal with zippers that get stuck and hems that need fixing. There is always a pile of work waiting, especially when a festival is coming up. We just keep our heads down and work through the list. It is a bit messy behind the counter, but we know where everything is kept.
