V I P Saloon

Ground floor at Sastri Bagan. It is right near Joramandir in Baguihati. The name is V I P Saloon, but we are just a normal neighborhood shop. Being on the ground floor makes it easy for people to just walk in off the street. We have the usual setup: big mirrors, swivel chairs that squeak a little, and a rack for towels. The area around Sastri Bagan is mostly residential, so we see a lot of fathers and their sons coming in together on the weekends. We have a radio that usually plays some old songs in the background to keep things lively. The lighting is okay, though we added an extra bulb last month near the back chair. It gets dusty because of the road, so we are always wiping down the glass. We don't have any fancy machines, just clippers, razors, and scissors. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the hand fans for the customers until the generator kicks in. It is a small business that keeps us busy from morning till late evening. We know which neighbor likes a close shave and who just wants a quick trim. It is a simple life here, just cutting hair and talking about the weather or the local news with whoever sits in the chair. We keep some old newspapers on a stool near the door.
