At Shobha, we are located on the 4th floor of No. 59- B on Sir Hariram Goenka Street. Being up on the fourth floor means we get a bit of a climb every day, especially if the lift is acting up again, which happens more often than we would like. The building is older, so it has that specific smell of old concrete and paper. Downstairs, the street is always packed with carts and people moving through the market area. It is quite a contrast once you get up to our space where it is slightly quieter, though you can still hear the horns honking from below. We have been in this spot for some time now, and the rooms are filled with piles of materials and ledgers. There is not much space for fancy decorations or big meeting rooms. We just have our tables set up where we can see what we are doing. Lunch is usually eaten right at the desk or sometimes we go down to find something quick from the street vendors. The windows are small, but they let in enough light to work by during the afternoon. Most of our day is spent checking over the items we handle and making sure the paperwork matches up. It is a straightforward way of working without any of that modern office fluff. We just focus on the tasks at hand until it is time to lock up and head home for the evening.
