Tools & Gauges India

You can find Tools & Gauges India over at 28, Tarachand Dutta St, which is just off Chittaranjan Avenue. It is one of those streets that feels like it hasn't changed much in decades. The building is old, and the air inside always has that faint smell of oil and cold metal. We deal with various instruments and tools, so there are drawers everywhere filled with small items that all look the same to an outsider. We spend hours checking things and making sure the stock is where it should be. It’s tedious sometimes, but it’s the nature of the job. The street outside is usually a mess of parked scooters and people walking quickly to get to the main road. We don't have much of a storefront, just a door that leads into our workspace. Inside, the lighting is a bit dim, so we use desk lamps to see the finer details of the gauges we handle. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit and wait or talk until it comes back on. It’s a quiet life in a loud part of town. We’ve got a small kettle for making coffee, and that’s about as modern as we get here. Most of our day is spent handling the inventory and writing out receipts by hand in our big ledger book. It’s just how we’ve always done things.
