If you come down Raja R. L. Mitra Road to number 2, you’ll find where we run Tista Layer Farm Private Limited. It’s a busy part of the area, and we’re tucked in there doing our thing with the poultry. People are always walking by, and there’s a lot of noise from the street, but inside the sheds, it’s all about the birds. We spend a lot of time just feeding and cleaning. It’s a daily cycle that never really stops because the layers don't take holidays. We started this because we wanted something local to do. Sometimes the delivery vans get stuck in traffic on the main road, and that causes a bit of a headache for everyone. We have a small team here. Most of us have known each other for years. We drink tea in the small break area and talk about the prices or the weather. It gets humid in the summer, and that makes the work harder, but you just get on with it. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. It's mostly just us answering the phone and keeping track of the layers. The building is old but it works for what we need. We keep the registers updated by hand mostly. It's a simple setup. Not much to look at from the outside, but we stay busy from sunrise until the gates close at night and we can finally go home to our families.
