Skr Fishery Kalimuddin is based out of Nandigram, over in East Midnapore. It’s run by family mostly, keeping things simple. Sk. Kutubuddin is the one managing a lot of it. Working with fish means your hands are always wet and you are always checking the water. It is not an easy life but it is what we know. We are located near where Sk. Aksar used to be. Nandigram is a place where people understand the value of hard work. We don't spend money on big signs or fancy advertisements. We just focus on the ponds and making sure everything grows right. Sometimes the rain helps, sometimes it makes things difficult with the water levels. We have been doing this for a while now. It started small and we just kept going. The day starts very early, usually when it is still dark, so we can get things ready for the market. It’s a lot of physical labor, carrying nets and sorting through the catch. If you come by the address in Midnapore, you’ll see it’s just a working fishery. There isn't much to say other than we work hard every single day. We are just local people trying to make a living from the land and water we have. It’s honest work and we take it one season at a time. No big corporate talk here, just fish and water and long hours. It gets tiring but we are used to it by now. We don't need any more than that to keep going.
