Thakur Salons

You can find us over at 764 Dakahindari Road. The name on the sign says Thakur Salons, and we have been operating out of this spot for quite some time now. This part of Kolkata is pretty crowded, and there are always people moving back and forth on the road outside. Our shop is a simple one-room setup. We don't have those fancy spinning chairs or big televisions on the walls. It is just a place where you can sit down and get your hair cut for a fair price. I started this because it was a skill I had, and the neighborhood needed a reliable place. Most of the guys who come in are regulars who live on Dakahindari Road or the little lanes nearby. We talk about sports or the price of things at the market while I work. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, even when we are busy. Sometimes the scissors need oiling and the mirrors get a bit foggy from the humidity, but we keep things running as best as we can. It is a family-run kind of thing, and we don't try to be anything we are not. We just offer basic hair cutting and shaving. If you are looking for a place that doesn't feel corporate and where you can just be yourself, that is what we have here. We stay open late most nights because that is when the workers come home.
