Tapas Roy

Over in Santoshpure, Kolkata, you’ll find us at the Co-Operative Society. Tapas Roy is the name on the door, but it’s really just a few of us working together. Kolkata has a rhythm of its own, and we definitely follow it. Things move a bit slower here, and we like it that way. The office is in a residential area, so you hear children playing outside and the sounds of people going about their shopping. It makes the workday feel less like a grind. We don’t have a big corporate structure or any fancy titles. I’m just Tapas, and the others are just my colleagues. We’ve got a small balcony where we sit sometimes to have tea and watch the street. The building itself is quite old and has that specific smell of old paper and concrete. We have a lot of books and ledgers because we haven't fully switched over to doing everything on the computer yet. It feels more real that way. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the roof leak a little, so we have to move the desks around. It’s just part of life here. We don’t try to impress anyone with big words or polished presentations. We just do our bit and hope it’s enough for the people we help. It’s a quiet life in a busy city, and we’re quite content with that.
