Our kitchen is tucked away at 55/2, Flat No 1, right on the New Santoshpur Main Road. It’s a busy spot near the Santoshpur Jora Bridge. We spend most of our mornings getting the pots ready and checking what we need from the market. It’s not a big restaurant with white tablecloths or anything. It feels more like a home kitchen because that’s basically what it is. We make food for people who live around here and want something that tastes like it came from their own stove. The steam fills up the room by noon. You can hear the traffic outside from the bridge, but in here it’s just the sound of chopping and the stove clicking. We’ve been at this address in Santoshpur for some time. Some days are more chaotic than others when the orders pile up. We try to keep the spices balanced and the rice fluffy. There’s no big secret to it, just staying busy and making sure the containers are packed right. Sometimes we run out of things early, especially when the weather is nice and people are out. It’s a lot of standing on our feet, but we like seeing the regulars who stop by. Bahari Aahar is just our way of keeping busy in the neighborhood. We focus on the cooking and hope people find us easily enough near the bridge. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us working hard to get things done every day.
