Our office and storage is at Plot No.- 26 on Chowringhee Road. If you’re looking for us, we are right near the SBI ATM, which is where everyone stops. Being on Chowringhee Road means we are right in the middle of everything. It’s a busy stretch of road and there’s always people walking by. The building is one of those older ones with high ceilings and thick walls that stay a bit damp during the monsoon. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything, just a door and a lot of boxes inside. Most of the day is spent handling phone calls and checking the shipments that come in from the gardens. It’s a private limited company on paper, but in reality, it’s just a handful of us working in a room full of tea samples and folders. We use old wooden desks that have been here since before I started. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit but it keeps the air moving. Sometimes we have to move the samples around when the roof leaks a little during a heavy storm. It’s a practical place for practical work. We don't spend money on decorations because we’re too busy keeping track of the inventory. Living in this city, you get used to the constant hum of the street outside our window. It’s just how we do things here at Plot 26.
