Our office is at 7 Madan Dutta Lane in Bowbazar. If you know Kolkata, you know Bowbazar is famous for its jewelry shops and the incredibly crowded streets. Madan Dutta Lane is one of those narrow paths that can get quite packed during the day. We’ve been here for a long time, handling money transfers and financial services. The office is in an old building that has seen better days, but it’s sturdy. Inside, it’s quite simple. We have counters with glass partitions and some benches for people to wait. It’s usually a mix of people sending money abroad or changing currency. The air conditioning works hard to keep the humid air out, but you can always hear the horns and shouting from the street. It’s a very busy environment. We don't have any fancy brochures or promotional displays. It’s mostly just the staff behind the counters and the security guard at the door. Every day is a bit of a rush, especially when the markets are fluctuating. We take our lunch in turns because the counter can’t be left empty. It’s a very practical, no-nonsense kind of place. People come here because they know the location and they trust us to get their transactions done. It’s a gritty, real-world office in the heart of the city’s trading district. We just do the work and close up when the sun goes down and the street quiets a bit.
