Srijak'S Boutique

Srijak'S Boutique is tucked away at 65, South Nilachal in the Birati neighborhood. It’s a small place we started because we have a passion for making clothes. It isn't a massive retail outlet with bright neon signs. It’s more like a workshop where we also sell what we make. You can usually find a couple of us hunched over sewing machines or cutting fabric on the large wooden table. We have racks of sarees, kurtas, and other outfits that we’ve finished. People from around Birati often come in when they have a special occasion coming up. We don't follow the big fashion trends you see on TV. We just make things that look good and feel comfortable. The shop is filled with scraps of cloth and spools of thread in every color. It’s often a bit messy, but that’s because we are always in the middle of a project. We don't have a big corporate strategy. We just talk to the ladies who come in, listen to what they want, and try to stitch it properly. Sometimes a custom order takes a few days longer than expected because we want to get the embroidery right. We enjoy the work, even when our eyes get tired from the detail. It’s a local business through and through. We know our customers and they know us. That makes the whole thing feel more like a community than a store.
