We spend a lot of our time inside Simpark Mall at shop 30F. It is right by Gate Number 4 on Lindsay Street here in Kolkata. Most mornings start with unlocking the glass door and checking if the towels are dry enough. The mall gets busy, especially on weekends, and you can hear the noise from the hallway outside. We have our chairs lined up and the mirrors need cleaning pretty much every hour because of fingerprints. It's not a huge place but it works for what we do. Shaan Khan Hair Designer Salon is usually where you will find us taking care of the front. We keep the scissors sharp and the combs in the blue liquid. Some days it is just back-to-back haircuts and other times we sit and wait for the next person to walk in from the street. The lights inside are quite bright which helps when we are trying to get the lines straight on a fade. We don't really have a fancy waiting area, just some seats for people while they wait their turn. Sometimes the air conditioning is too cold and other times it's just right. It gets a bit messy with hair on the floor during a rush, but we try to sweep it up quickly so nobody slips. Being near the gate means we see a lot of people just passing through. It is a simple setup we have here. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and know the neighbors.
