Raipur Mufti Para Road is where you’ll find us. We’re in the Rakhal Kuthi area of Maheshtala. The shop is full of old metal parts and the smell of machine oil. It’s not the tidiest place, but we know where everything is kept. People bring in their machines when the timing is off or the needle keeps breaking. Most of the machines are heavy, the old-fashioned kind that last forever if you treat them right. We spend a lot of time cleaning out lint and fixing tension issues. It’s tedious work, hunched over a workbench with small screwdrivers. The road outside can get a bit muddy when it rains, and sometimes the light in the back of the shop is a bit dim. We’ve been at this for a long time in Maheshtala. There’s always a stack of machines waiting in the corner. Some belong to tailors who need them back quickly to finish their orders. We do what we can. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by the machines and the spare parts we’ve collected over the years. You can hear the hum of the motors being tested throughout the day. People from around Mufti Para Road know us well enough. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the work we do. It’s a simple life, fixing things that people use to make their living. We keep our hands dirty and the machines running.
