You can find us at number 2 Kali Krishna Tagore Street. It’s a very old part of the city, not far from the river. The building has those thick walls you only see in the older constructions. We deal mostly in sarees, so the whole place is filled with long pieces of cloth draped over racks or folded into cupboards. We don't have a modern display window. People just walk in through the main door. The street outside is always crowded with people going to the markets. Sometimes the noise makes it hard to hear what the customers are saying. We have a few wooden benches where people can sit while they look at the different patterns. The floor is marble but it's gotten a bit dull over the years. We keep the sarees wrapped in white cloth to protect them from the city soot. There is a small temple nearby, so we often hear the bells in the morning. We don't use any high-tech gadgets here. Everything is handled by hand, from the measuring to the packing. We’ve known the families in this neighborhood for a long time. It’s a small shop and we like it that way. We don't have much room for growth, but we have enough space for what we do. We usually close for a bit in the middle of the afternoon when it gets too hot.
