Saree Boutique

Our boutique is located at No. 7 Ahiripukur 1st Lane. We are on the ground floor, which makes it easy for people to just walk in off the street. Ahiripukur is a bit of a tight squeeze with the narrow lanes, but it has a lot of character. We’ve been running the Saree Boutique from this spot for a while now. The space is filled with stacks of fabric and finished pieces everywhere you look. It might look a little disorganized to some, but we know exactly where everything is. Being on the ground floor means we get to talk to the neighbors as they pass by. It’s a very local feel here. We don’t have those big bright lights like the malls; we just have what we need to see the colors clearly. The work is mostly manual—folding, checking borders, and talking to the weavers. Some days are slow and we just sit and chat over tea, and other days we are rushing to get an order ready for a customer who needs it for a wedding. We don’t do much advertising. People mostly find us through word of mouth or because they live nearby. It’s a humble little shop, but it’s ours. We take pride in the stuff we have on the shelves even if we don’t talk about it in a fancy way. It’s just how we make a living and keep the tradition going.
