Sanjay Hair Cuts

Sanjay Hair Cuts is on the ground floor in Vivekanand Pally, Rabindra Nagar. It’s very close to the Vivekanand High School. You can hear the school bell ringing throughout the day. Because of the school, we get a lot of students coming in to get their hair cut according to the school rules. I’ve been cutting hair in this neighborhood for a long time. The shop is simple. We have three chairs and a long wooden bench for people to wait. The walls are covered with some old posters of cricketers. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights. We use natural light from the door mostly. We do haircuts for kids and adults. Sometimes the parents come in with their boys and tell us exactly how short to cut it. We also do shaves for the older men. The sink is a bit stained from the hair dye, but it works fine. We keep our tools in a small drawer. It’s a quiet part of Kolkata, away from the big main roads. Most of our customers are people who have lived here for decades. We don't have any assistants, so I do everything myself. It keeps me busy from morning to night. It’s just a normal shop where you get a decent haircut and maybe talk about the local football match. I have an old wooden table for my supplies. The scissors are getting a bit old now.
