Downtown Fashion Station

Our place is at Ee-106 in Salt Lake City, Kolkata. It’s one of those quiet blocks where you can actually hear the birds in the morning. Downtown Fashion Station is more of a local hangout for some of our customers. We aren't in a big mall with escalators and loud music. It’s just a ground-floor space in a regular building. We’ve set it up with some simple racks and a couple of mirrors. Most of the people who come in are from the nearby houses or students from the local colleges. They like that they can just walk in and browse without someone hovering over them. We keep the inventory fresh, changing things out every couple of weeks. Sometimes the stock takes longer to arrive from the wholesalers, and we have to explain that to the regulars who are waiting for something specific. That's just how small business goes. The street outside is lined with trees, so it stays relatively cool even in the summer. We like the pace of life here. It’s not frantic. We take our time to fold the clothes properly and chat with whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple way to spend the day, really. We’ve been here at Ee-106 for a few years now and it feels like we’re part of the neighborhood fabric. Just a normal shop doing normal things. On Sundays, we usually close a bit earlier to get some rest before the week starts again.
