S S Marble

S S Marble is located at 507/4 on Jessore Road in the Motijhil area. If you drive down Jessore Road, you will see a lot of shops like ours, but we have been at this specific spot for quite some time. The yard is filled with large slabs of marble and some granite too. It is a heavy, cold material to work with, but there is something nice about seeing the patterns in a fresh piece of stone. We spend our days moving these slabs around with the crane, which is always a bit of a tense process. The office is just a small cabin at the front where we keep the records. It’s usually got a bit of water on the floor from when we wash down the stones to show the color to a customer. We don't use any high-pressure sales tactics here. We just let people wander around the stacks and look at what we have. Most of our work is just cutting the stone to the right size and making sure the edges aren't chipped. It is a physical job and our hands are always rough from the stone and the water. We get a mix of people coming in, from architects to families just looking for a new kitchen counter. We just tell them what is available and how much it will cost. It is a plain, simple way of doing business.
