Mayur Hotel

Mayur Hotel is located at 109 S. N. Banerjee Road. We are quite close to the Janbazar area in Kolkata. The building is old, and you can tell by the way the floorboards sometimes creak when you walk on them. It is not like those new hotels with glass elevators and shiny carpets. We have simple rooms with basic furniture. My family has been running things here for a long time. People come to stay because they have work in the city or they are just passing through to the station. It is a very noisy street outside with the buses and the rickshaws, but that is just how Kolkata is. We have a small kitchen where we make tea and some simple snacks for the guests. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time when the rooms are full. We do not have a big team, just a couple of us who take turns at the desk and one person who handles the cleaning. It is a bit of a struggle sometimes to keep up with everything, especially during the humid months when everything feels a bit damp. We just try to make sure the fans are working and the water is running. It is a plain place for a cheap stay in a busy part of town.
