S K Saloon

Over in Dakshin Dari, near Sree Bhumi, you’ll find S K Saloon. It’s a humble little place, just a room with some mirrors and chairs. We’ve been serving the people around here for quite a while. It’s the kind of shop where everyone knows everyone else. You can come in and hear all the latest talk about what’s happening in the local area. We don’t have any fancy signs or decorations. We just focus on cutting hair and making sure people look decent. The neighborhood is a bit crowded, and our shop is tucked into a busy spot, but that's how it is in Kolkata. We see all kinds of people, from little kids who are scared of the scissors to old men who have been getting the same cut for fifty years. We handle them all with a bit of patience. The water can be a bit cold sometimes in the winter, and the fans are always on in the summer heat. It’s a simple business. We don’t spend money on advertising because our customers do that for us by telling their friends. We just try to be honest and do the work for a fair price. Some days are long, especially when there's a festival coming up, but we don't mind the work. It’s just our way of life here in Dakshin Dari. We keep the shutters open until the last customer leaves and then we head home ourselves.
