Ruroshee Paelar

Ruroshee Paelar is located in Narayanpur, which is part of the Rajarhat Gopalpur side of Kolkata. It’s basically a local spot where women from the nearby houses come to get their eyebrows done or maybe a quick hair wash. It isn't one of those big expensive mall shops you see in the city center. It’s just us here in the neighborhood. The room is painted a light color and we try to keep things tidy as much as possible between customers. Sometimes the neighborhood kids play right outside and it gets a little noisy with their shouting, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. I’ve worked here for a bit and I know most of the ladies who stop by for a chat. We talk about the local news or what’s happening at the market while I work on their hair. It’s a comfortable place. If you need something simple done and don't want to travel far into the city, we are right here. We have a few chairs and some basic supplies on the shelves. It’s not complicated or high-end. Some days are slower than others, especially when it rains hard and the streets get muddy, but we stay open. It feels good to help people look a bit neater before they go to a wedding. We aren't trying to be anything special, just a regular parlor for the people living around Narayanpur.
