Rupashree Hair Cutting Saloon

Our saloon is right on A P C Road in the Shyambazar and Hatibagan area. This is one of the older parts of Kolkata, so the buildings around us have a lot of history. Rupashree Hair Cutting Saloon has its place right on this busy stretch of road where the trams are always passing. It is a traditional hair cutting shop with the big glass windows looking out onto the street. You can see the yellow taxis and the crowds moving by all day long. Inside, we have the tall mirrors that have been on the walls for decades. The chairs are old but they are sturdy and have served thousands of people. We mainly do haircuts and shaves for the gentlemen of the neighborhood. A lot of our customers are older men who have been coming here since they were boys. They like the way we do things the old way. We don't have any fancy music playing, just the sound of the street and the occasional chat between customers. It gets very hot in the summer, so we keep the door open to catch a breeze. We use standard soaps and powders that have a familiar smell. It’s a steady job and we take pride in showing up every morning to open the shop. We don't need much, just our tools and our regular customers who keep us going through the year.
