Roy Saloon

Roy Saloon is located right over in Gouranga Nagar, near the VIP Road area. Most people around Baguihati know where we are. It is a small shop, tucked away. We’ve been here for a while now. The space is a bit tight when more than three people are waiting. I usually handle the morning shift myself. It’s quiet then. Later on, it gets loud with the traffic noise from the road outside. We have a couple of chairs and some old magazines for people to look at. Mostly, people just want a quick trim or a shave before they head to work. We don't do anything too complicated here. Just the basic stuff. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings over some chai and we sit for a minute. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. Life in Kolkata is fast, but inside the shop, things move at a different pace. We know most of the neighbors. You see the same people walking by every day. 700059 is a busy pin code. There is always someone coming or going. We try to keep the place tidy, but hair gets everywhere by midday. It is honest work. No one expects anything fancy here, and we don't try to be something we aren't. We just open up in the morning and stay until the last person leaves. It's just a regular daily life for us and the people around Baguihati.
