Rinku Beauty Parlour

We are over here at Ad 298 in Rabindra Pally. It is a busy little corner of Kolkata. Being near the 7 No Foot Bridge means there is always a lot of noise from people walking across it all day long. Rinku Beauty Parlour has been at this spot for a while now. Most days start the same way. We get here, unlock the gate, and start getting things ready for whoever might stop by. The fans stay on because it gets quite warm in this part of town. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings over some chai and we sit for a minute before things get moving. It isn't a huge place, just a couple of chairs and the usual stuff you find in a parlour. People from the neighborhood know us. They walk past on their way to the bridge and give a wave. We do haircuts and whatever else is needed. There are no fancy signs or anything, just the address on the wall. The floors get swept a lot because of all the hair, and the mirrors need cleaning every morning. It feels like home to us because we spend more time here than anywhere else. Some days are slow and we just watch the traffic, other days we are on our feet until late. That is just how it goes for a small business in Kolkata and we are fine with that.
