About Indian Art & Dolls Gallery – Art & Craft in Kolkata
Up on the third floor at B/6 Bapujinagar is where we keep the gallery. It’s in the Regent Estate area, and it’s a bit of a climb if you don't like stairs, but it's worth it for the quiet. We have all sorts of dolls and art pieces tucked away in the rooms here. It’s not a big museum or anything, just a space filled with things we’ve collected and made over time. Bapujinagar is a residential kind of place, so it feels very homely. You can hear the sounds of the street below, but up here it’s mostly just us. We spend a lot of time dusting and arranging the shelves. Each doll has its own spot. It’s a bit of a hobby that turned into a full-time thing for us. We don't have shiny lights or a big gift shop. It’s just old-fashioned art and traditional dolls. People who come to find us usually have to ask around a bit, but that makes it feel special. The mail goes to the Regent Estate post office nearby. It’s a small operation, really just a few of us making sure everything stays in good shape. We like the history behind the pieces. It’s a dusty, creative kind of life we have here in Bapujinagar. No big corporate goals, just keeping the art alive and making sure the dolls are looked after. It is a peaceful way to spend the day among such pretty things.
