Lalit Rakhi

Our place is right on Armenian Street, up on the first floor. It's near the Nandram Building, which is a big enough landmark for most people to find us. We’ve been dealing with rakhis for quite some time. It gets really crowded here when the festival season starts approaching. The whole floor ends up filled with different designs and threads. We spend most of our time sorting through stock and making sure everything is ready for the customers who stop by. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs but people don't seem to mind. Being at number 9 means we're right in the middle of the action. The street outside is always noisy with carts and people moving about. We aren't a big corporation, just a local business trying to keep up with the demand. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a big order to pack. It's a lot of manual work, checking the beads and the colors. We have boxes stacked up everywhere. It can get a bit messy, but we know where everything is. You learn to work in the space you have. Most of the folks who come here have been buying from us for years. They know the routine. We just open the doors and get to work. There’s always tea being passed around and plenty of talk while we work. It’s just how things go at Lalit Rakhi. We don't need much more than that to stay happy.
