We are over here on the first floor of the F.M.C. Fortuna Building, right on AJC Bose Road. It is a busy spot in Kolkata. Most days we are just managing the paperwork and the orders that come through for the granite slabs. If you have ever walked down 234/3A, you know how noisy it gets outside with all the traffic. Inside our unit, it is mostly us trying to keep things organized. Granite is heavy stuff, and even though we are in an office building, the business of moving stone never really stops being on our minds. Some days the lift is slow, and we have to wait a bit to get up to Unit A-7. We have been here for a while now. The walls are lined with samples, and there is always a thin layer of dust that seems to find its way in, no matter how much we clean. People come in to look at colors, and we just show them what we have on the list. It is not fancy work, but it fills the day. We handle the logistics from this small space, making sure trucks get to where they need to go. Sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks, and we spend the whole afternoon just sorting through invoices and delivery notes. It is a lot of back and forth with the quarries. We just keep our heads down and get the job done, day in and day out.
