Rai Saloon

Rai Saloon has been sitting on K C Road in the Chitpur area for a good amount of time now. It is a very busy part of the city and we are right in the middle of all the noise. The shop itself is not very big but it fits exactly what we need for our daily work. People come in for a quick shave or a haircut before they head to their jobs or after they finish up for the day. We have the usual mirrors and the heavy chairs that have been here since we first opened. It can get a bit hot in the afternoons, but we usually leave the door open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. Kolkata is always loud and you can hear the traffic and the horns from inside the shop. We do not mind it at all. It is just the sound of the neighborhood. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint one of these days, but they are fine for now. We know most of the people who live around 700002. They come in and talk about their families or the local politics while we work. It is a very straightforward business with no big signs or flashing lights. Just a small board outside so people know it is us. Sometimes we run out of fresh towels if the laundry is late, but usually, everything is ready. It is just a regular place for regular people.
