You can find Raghunath Hardware Stores at 75, Netaji Subhas Road. It is a crowded part of town, and the street outside is always full of people and rickshaws going back and forth. Our shop has been here for a long time, and the shelves are packed from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. If you walk in, you’ll see bins full of nuts, bolts, and all kinds of small metal parts that people need for fixing things at home. It’s a bit dusty, honestly, because there’s so much stuff to move around. We spend a lot of our time climbing ladders to reach the boxes on the top shelves. Sometimes we don’t even remember what’s in every single box until someone asks for something specific. We don't really do the whole corporate thing with uniforms or shiny displays. It’s just us behind the counter, helping whoever walks through the door. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk about the weather or the traffic on Netaji Subhas Road. Other days, it feels like everyone in the neighborhood needs a new lock or a hammer at the same time. We keep a ledger for the regular accounts and try to keep things organized, though it doesn't always stay that way. It’s a simple life running a hardware store. We see the same faces every week, and that’s how we like it. The shop feels like a second home after so many years.
