Rabin Saloon

Rabin Saloon has been sitting here in Prafulla Kanan for quite some time. If you are familiar with the Krishnapur area near V I P Road, you probably know where we are. It’s a small shop, nothing too big. We handle all kinds of haircuts for the men in this neighborhood. Usually, the place stays full on Sunday mornings because that is when everyone has time. I’ve worked here a long time and seen kids grow up and start bringing their own kids in for a trim. It makes the place feel like a part of the community. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most people just drop in when they need a shave or a haircut. The shop is simple with a few old chairs and some posters on the wall that have been there for years. We like it that way. It feels comfortable. Sometimes the power goes out in this part of Kolkata, but we just keep going as best as we can. Working on V I P Road means there is always a lot of noise outside, but inside it’s just us chatting. We don’t try to be something we aren't. It’s just a local spot for a quick cut. We keep the mirrors clean and the razors sharp. That’s all a saloon really needs to do. If you happen to be walking through Prafulla Kanan, you will see our sign out front. We open around nine.
