R. D. INDUSTRIAL CORPORATION

We are based at 188 Manicktala Road. It is an old part of the city and our building has that lived-in feel to it. We deal with industrial supplies and parts, so the shelves are packed with all sorts of things that you wouldn't find in a normal store. It’s a bit dark inside sometimes, and the smell of old iron and dust is always there. We have a lot of regulars who have been coming to us for years. They know exactly where to find us on Manicktala Road. We don't have any high-tech systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with handwritten notes and old ledgers. It works for us. The street outside is always crowded with rickshaws and vendors, which adds to the noise. We spend our day pulling items from the back and talking to customers who need specific parts for their machines. It is a slow and steady kind of business. We aren't trying to change the world or anything like that. We just provide the industrial goods that people in this area need. Sometimes it takes a while to find a specific small part in the stacks, but we usually get there. It’s just a traditional industrial supply house run by people who know their inventory. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s our main break.
