Queens Hair & Beauty Salon

Being on Jessore Road means there is never a quiet moment. Queens Hair & Beauty Salon is on the ground floor of building 335. You can’t miss us if you are heading towards Kalindi More. It’s a busy stretch of Kolkata. We spend a lot of our day standing by the chairs or cleaning up hair from the floor. The Jessore Road traffic is always there in the background, like a hum. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. Most of our regulars are from the nearby flats. They just walk over when they have some free time. We have the usual mirrors and some old magazines for people to look at while they wait. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we keep the door closed and the AC on when we can. The ground floor location is handy because nobody has to climb stairs. Sometimes we stand outside for a bit of air when it’s not too dusty. We know the other shopkeepers around here pretty well. We see the same faces every day going to the market or the bus stop. It’s a lot of work keeping a salon going, but we just take it one person at a time. The Jessore Road vibe is fast, but inside we try to keep things steady. It’s just us doing our jobs in this little corner of Kolkata. We make sure to check the appointments in our old ledger book every morning before we start the day.
