Payal Beauty Parlour

Our little shop, Payal Beauty Parlour, is tucked away at P106, Nani Gopal Roy Chowdhury Avenue. We are right in the Entally area of Kolkata, which is always full of life and noise. It is pretty easy to spot us because we are directly opposite the Allahabad Bank. If you can’t see the bank, just look for Sandhya Sweets—we are right beside them. The smell of the sweets sometimes drifts into the parlour when the wind is right, especially in the mornings. We have been here in the 700014 area for years. It’s not a large place, just a few chairs and the basic equipment we need to get the job done. We don't have a big team or a corporate office. It’s just us, some scissors, some thread, and the local news. People from the neighborhood come in to talk while they get their hair done. It’s a very grounded atmosphere. We don't use any of that polished language or try to act like we are something we aren't. We just open the doors every morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the regulars to show up. The street outside is always busy with people going to the bank or grabbing a snack at the sweet shop. We like being part of that daily rhythm in Entally. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when three or four people are waiting, but nobody seems to mind much because they are usually busy talking or checking their phones.
