Papillon House Of Fresh Flowers

Our shop, Papillon House Of Fresh Flowers, is located at 17/2 Burdwan Road in Alipore. It’s a nice enough spot, though it gets quite humid in the back where we keep the water buckets. We spend most of our mornings very early, before the sun is even up, getting the shipments in from the market. There’s always leaves on the floor and the smell of cut stems everywhere. It’s not as pretty as people think; it’s a lot of cold water, thorns, and wet floors. We do our best to keep everything fresh, but flowers are finicky things. We don't have a big philosophy about it. We just trim the ends, put them in vases, and hope they last a good while for whoever buys them. The shop is small and can get a bit cramped when we have a big order for a wedding or an event to put together. We usually have a radio playing in the corner to keep us company while we work. People stop by for all sorts of reasons, sometimes just for a single rose or for a whole bundle of lilies. We don't do much advertising; people just know we’re here on Burdwan Road. It’s a messy job, and our hands are usually stained or scratched, but it’s what we’ve been doing for years. We just try to keep the flowers looking decent and get them out the door to the customers.
