Ajoy Straps

At Ajoy Straps, we work out of P-36, India Exchange Place. It’s right near the Calcutta GPO, so it’s a very central and busy part of the city. We specialize in straps, which might seem like a small thing to some people, but it keeps us very busy. Our office is more of a workspace than a showroom. We have boxes stacked up in various corners and rolls of material sitting on the tables. It’s a bit of a functional mess, honestly. We don’t have fancy furniture or a decorated lobby. It’s just a place where we get the work done. The building is old and has that specific smell of paper and stone that you find in this part of Calcutta. We spend our days sorting through orders and making sure everything is ready for the customers. Sometimes the noise from the street is so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard over the phone. We don’t mind it much because we’ve been here long enough to get used to it. The fans overhead keep the air moving, which is necessary during the humid months. We are just a small group of people who know our trade well. We don’t put on any airs or try to be something we’re not. It’s just a regular business in a regular part of town, dealing with regular daily tasks and keeping things moving.
