If you walk down Radha Bazar Lane in the Calcutta GPO area, you will find us at shop number E-10. This whole lane is full of shops and it can be quite a squeeze when the delivery carts are moving through. It’s a bit of a maze back here but that is part of the charm of the old market. We have been in this spot for quite a while now. The space is small and every inch of the walls is covered with something, mostly clocks or shelves for spare parts. It gets quite warm in the summer because the buildings are so close together and the air doesn't move much. We usually have a small fan going but it mostly just moves the warm air around. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to Radha Bazar for decades. They bring in old mechanical watches that need a bit of oil or a new spring. It is quiet work that requires a lot of patience and a steady hand. Sometimes we sit and have tea with the neighbor from the electronics shop next door. We don't have a big staff, just us doing the work as it comes in. It’s a busy life but it is what we know. The lane gets quiet after dark but during the day it’s quite a spectacle.
