Our office is located at 207 F on Rabindra Sarani. We are on the first floor of a building known as Lal Kothi, right on Burtolla Street. If you know North Kolkata, you know how busy and packed these streets are. There is a constant noise of rickshaws, shouting vendors, and the general hum of the city right outside our windows. The building itself has that old, classic feel to it, with thick walls and high ceilings. Our space inside is filled with files and samples. We don't have modern glass partitions; it’s more of an old-school setup where everyone sits close together. We deal with a lot of different traders and suppliers throughout the day. People are always coming up the stairs to discuss orders or just to have a quick chat about the market. It gets quite hot in the summer, but we have our fans running full speed. We’ve been operating from this Lal Kothi spot for a long time, and we’ve seen the street change quite a bit, though it stays just as crowded as ever. We handle the business side of things with a lot of back-and-forth on the phone and plenty of manual bookkeeping. It’s a place where we value long-term relationships over anything else. The day ends when the street lights come on and the traffic finally starts to thin out a little bit. We just keep our heads down and work.
