Nikkis Store

Nikkis Store is located in the Five Stare Market in Khidderpore. We are on the ground floor, shop number 5-B, right on Karl Marx Sarani. It’s a very busy street with plenty of buses and people walking by at all hours of the day. Being on the ground floor means we see a lot of the street life from our doorway. The market itself is quite a landmark in this part of the city. Our shop isn't very large, but we try to keep it as organized as possible despite all the items we have packed in there. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic outside, so we spend some time every morning just cleaning off the shelves. We’ve been here long enough that we know the rhythms of the market—when it gets busy and when it’s finally time to pull down the shutters. Khidderpore has a specific energy to it that you won’t find elsewhere in Kolkata. We don’t spend money on fancy marketing or anything like that because most of our customers are just people passing through the market who happen to see our sign. We just handle the sales and talk to the regulars who stop by for a chat. It’s a simple way to run a store, and it works for us. We are just a small part of the Five Stare Market community, doing our bit every day.
