Nightangale Salon

Nightangale Salon is over at 101, Gopal Lal Tagore Road. It is in the 700036 area of Kolkata. I have been running this place for quite some time now. It’s a simple shop. We have a blue door that stays open during the day. Inside, we have two big mirrors and two chairs. They aren't the newest models, but they are comfortable enough for a twenty-minute haircut. We do shaves too. I use a lot of shaving cream and warm water. Most of the men in this neighborhood come here. Gopal Lal Tagore Road is a long street with many small businesses like mine. We all know each other. Sometimes the guy from the sweet shop next door brings over some tea. We sit and talk if there are no customers. The walls are decorated with some old posters of movie stars from years ago. The colors have faded from the sun. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We don't have any air conditioning, just the fans on the ceiling. They hum along all day. When it rains, the sound on the roof is very loud. It’s a basic place, but it’s ours. We just keep doing what we know how to do. Not much else to tell about it. I hope the weather stays clear tomorrow because the street gets very muddy when it pours.
