New Statnderd Saloon is located in Dakshin Hatiara. The name has a bit of a spelling mistake in it, but we never bothered to change the sign outside because everyone knows who we are anyway. We’ve been in this part of Hatiara for a long time. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the center of Kolkata, but we stay busy. People from the nearby houses come in for their regular shaves and haircuts. We don't have any of those fancy air conditioners or big screen TVs. Just a simple shop with the basic tools we need. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to sit and talk for a bit even if they don't need a haircut. That is just how it is here. We try to keep the prices fair so everyone can afford to come in. It’s a local business run by local people. We start early and usually close up when it gets dark. The water can be a bit cold in the winter, but we try to make things comfortable. We use the standard stuff like old-fashioned razors and simple hair tonics. If you are looking for a place that doesn't put on any acts, this is it. We are just here to do a job and help the people in Hatiara look their best for whatever they have going on that day. It’s a plain and simple life for us.
