New Saloon Sangam

New Saloon Sangam is right on Jessore Road in the Motijhil area. If you live around Motijhil, you know how loud the traffic can get out there with all the buses and cars going toward the airport. Inside here, it is a bit quieter, though you can still hear the horns. I started working here because I like the work and it keeps me busy. The shop has two main chairs and a bench for people to sit on while they wait their turn. I keep some old newspapers and magazines on the table, though most people just look at their phones these days. We do all the regular things like beard trims and hair styling, nothing too complicated. The mirrors have a few spots on them that won't come off no matter how much I scrub, but you can see yourself well enough. Being at this Kolkata - 700074 address means we get a lot of regular faces who have been coming since they were boys. Now they bring their own kids in, which is nice to see. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so I am always reaching for the broom between customers. It is a small business, just me and occasionally one other fellow helping out when it gets crowded on Sundays. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a big window and a fan that does its best. It is a local life, and it suits me fine.
