Narayana Multispeciality Hospital

Working at the Narayana Multispeciality Hospital at 78 Jessore Road in South Barasat feels a bit different than being in the heart of the city. It’s still Jessore Road, but the pace changes a bit as you get toward Barasat. I take the bus in most mornings, and it’s always a squeeze. The hospital itself is a busy spot for people living around here. We see a lot of locals who don’t want to travel all the way into the main city for every little thing. I work mostly in the administration side, so I see a lot of files and insurance papers. It’s not the most exciting work, but it has to be done. The building is decent, though the paint is peeling a bit in the back hallway where the patients don't usually go. We have a lot of families who come in together, which makes the waiting areas feel very full. Sometimes we have to bring in extra chairs from the back. It’s a very human place. You hear kids crying and old men complaining about the wait times. It’s just part of the atmosphere. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just open up the doors and take care of the folks who show up. It’s a long day, but it feels okay at the end.
